Who We Are
Mattie’s Little Nurses was created firstly as a children’s book series with the goal of introducing common diseases and disorders amongst black and brown children. Each book serves as a learning tool for children.
Vision
We educate and empower children with an interest in nursing, and children and families battling various diseases. We not only provide representation, but a world that ensures an equitable and encouraging future.
Goals
Our goal is to provide an educational and fun space for children interested in healthcare and nursing. We also aim to donate a percentage of earnings towards each disease specific foundation as well as assist children and families in need.
Meet the Creator
Mattison is a passionate pediatric nurse with a variety of experiences in caring for children and their families. Passionate about promoting health and well-being for black and brown communities, she combines clinical expertise with a love for storytelling to create engaging children's books that educate and inspire.
Mattison desired to write books that not only entertain, but also help children understand their health journeys. She believes that by weaving medical concepts into imaginative tales, children can feel empowered and less anxious about their healthcare experiences.
In addition to writing books, she desired to be a resource to underserved communities, and an inspiration through representation to aspiring nurses and healthcare professionals.
Mattison truly believes she was called to positively impact the lives of children. She began fulfilling her purpose as a pediatric nurse, and now through creating Mattie’s Little Nurses!
